Four ways originators use it

  • Competitive displacement

The secured party on a new filing is the incumbent lender: the one to beat on the next deal with that company.

This week: Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation is the secured party on 28 equipment filings.

  • The lapse window

A filing nearing its five-year lapse date often marks a payoff, a refinance or a replacement. Every row carries its lapse date; the Pro plan adds lapse alerts 180 days ahead.

Lapse date on every row; Pro adds alerts 180 days ahead.

  • Fresh financing

A company that has just financed equipment is used to financing, and may need more.

    104 filings for construction / heavy equipment (95 companies), Oct 27–Nov 2.

  • CRM follow-up

Load the CSV into your CRM with the filed date and the lender, and follow up while the deal is recent.

What we add to the states' free data

Colorado and Connecticut publish these filings free, and scraper services resell them cheaply. Here is what you would still do yourself.

Compared with free state data

Honest coverage

  • Colorado (statewide): Every UCC-1 filed with the Colorado Secretary of State, from the state's open-data copy, with the collateral text as filed. Of last week's 441 new UCC-1s against companies, 110 (25%) were equipment filings; the rest were blanket liens, inventory or receivables lines, merchant cash advances, landlords' liens, or collateral text we could not place.
  • Connecticut (statewide; no collateral text): Every UCC-1 filed with the Connecticut Secretary of the State. Connecticut publishes no collateral description, so the equipment type comes only from the lender's name; 85% of last week's Connecticut filings could not be given an equipment category and are not counted as equipment filings.
  • Not every lease is filed: some lessors don't file UCC-1s, so no UCC source shows the whole market. We deliver what is filed in the states we cover, with the lender named.
  • States are added when lenders ask: name yours on the sample form.
  • We do not sell California or Vermont records.

  • One state: Colorado, or Connecticut (Connecticut records show the lender and the borrower but not the equipment: Connecticut publishes no collateral text)
  • New equipment UCC-1s against companies, every weekday morning by email, with a CSV of the same rows
  • The secured party (or the filing agent) named, the collateral as filed and the lapse date
  • The state's record linked on every row

A Connecticut-only plan shows each filing's lender and borrower, not the equipment: Connecticut publishes no collateral text, so any equipment type comes from the lender's name only.

Questions lenders ask

UCC lists are stale.

We collect each weekday morning from the states' open-data copies. A filing usually reaches them within a few days of being filed, so the newest days can be incomplete; every row shows its filed date.

Not every lessor files.

True. Some lessors don't file UCC-1s, so no UCC source shows the whole market. We deliver what is filed in the states we cover, with the lender named.

Contacts are always wrong.

We don't sell contact details yet. Each record names the company exactly as filed and links to the filing. Checked business contacts are on the roadmap; when they arrive, each will show how it was checked.

The state data is free, and scrapers are cheap.

Both true. You pay for the sorting and checking: equipment only, companies only, agents labelled, same-day repeat filings merged, a finished email and CSV, a checked sample, and credit for bad records.

Lists waste time without follow-up.

One CSV with 26 columns that imports into a spreadsheet or CRM, the lapse date on every row, and lapse alerts 180 days ahead on Pro.

My competitors get the same list.

They can: the equipment-finance feed is not exclusive. What you get is each filing the first weekday morning after it appears in the state's open data, with the incumbent lender named.

Contracts and auto-renew traps.

No long-term contract. Cancel in one click; cancel within the first 30 days and the plan is refunded in full. After that a monthly plan stops at the end of the paid month, and an annual plan stops renewing.

Is this merchant-cash-advance data?

No. Merchant-cash-advance, blanket-lien, accounts or inventory and landlord's-lien filings are left out of equipment counts, data pages, samples and equipment plans.

Can we use it for underwriting or KYC?

No. Prospecting and market research only; never for credit, insurance, employment or housing decisions.
